| Summary: Transferring from Liberty to Chapel Hill for this season, Kepley looks to solidify himself as a legit leadoff guy who can play up the middle. In two seasons with Liberty, his OBP was 150 points higher than his batting average, getting on base via HBP or a walk at a clip higher than 12% of the time. While he is small in stature and there really isn’t much power upside, the ability to get on base via a free pass or with a hit tool that flirts with plus, he is a menace to try and retire in the box. He also led Conference USA in steals a season ago, showing off his impressive speed and continuing to be a headache for pitchers once he is out of the box too. He has about the furthest thing from a cannon of an arm as you will find, but his routes and range in center should let him stick there, making him a nice throwback style ballplayer who brings more value to a team than the pure toolset may suggest. | |||||||||||
