| Summary: The profile for Laya is incredibly raw, but it includes a ton of upside. Originally from Venezuela but now in California, he has the projectable frame international scouts would drool over, but being a domestic high school product now, there are some questions with his now traits. He has a big arm and plenty of speed that will allow him to start his pro career in center, although a move to right is likely as he fills out. At the plate, he makes good contact and the hit tool has good upside, but currently it is hurt by a tendency to really expand the zone. The strong and still projectable frame is what really gets scouts excited, with many giving him plus potential there, although I don’t believe it will ever get there, especially if the swing decisions don’t take a real step forward. | |||||||||||
