| Summary: Velazquez is a player with a ton of tools, he is just very raw, but he will also still be 17 on draft day. There are some scouts who think his future is on the mound where he a pure thrower over pitcher, but up to 96 and has the makings of a solid change and breaker that could make him a solid high leverage reliever. I believe his future is as a power hitting third baseman, where that big arm will play well and his experience at short have shown there are enough infield actions he could develop into a solid average defender at the 5. There is real pop in the bat and he generates a ton of bat speed, but the approach needs refinement. He struggles against spin and allows inside fastballs to beat him. There isn’t much effort in the swing and as the approach improves the looseness of the operation will allow him to adjust better and really tap into his considerable raw power. | |||||||||||
