| Summary: A big lefty from Southern California, Volantis has a frame that fits in well in the state of Texas, as he made a late change from being a USC commit to becoming the closer for the Longhorns despite being drafted by the Athletics in the 20th round. He has a big leg kick in his delivery and comes from a high slot, but his strong lower half and repeatable delivery has real upside as a future starter. The fastball is into the mid-90s and has mixed in a change and an occasional cutter. His best pitch, however, is a big downer curveball that is an easy plus pitch and one of the better curves in college baseball. Look for Volantis to transition into the weekend rotation in 2026 and will certainly be a name to know for the 2027 draft. | |||||||||||
