| Summary: Nobody had a summer quite like Fien, but the lack of an extended track record and an unorthodox swing had me skeptical about the “realness” of the results. He had a great winter and has shown no signs of slowing down this spring. There is a hitchiness to his swing, but it has calmed some since the summer. Opposing pitchers know he is the most dangerous bat in the lineup by far and are really pitching around him, and he is expanding the zone, but he is hitting the ball hard when he gets pitches to hit. He is not the greatest athlete so I don’t see the range for him to play the outfield, and there are some questions about his lateral mobility being enough to stick at third. He played first for Team USA over the summer, but I like him best at third where he can let his plus arm be a real weapon for him and he can be an overall fringy defender there. | |||||||||||
