2025 MLB Draft: Uli Fernsler, LHP, Novi

Player: Uli Fernsler
School: Novi (MI)Position(s): LHP
Height: 6’4″Weight: 215 lbs.Bats: LeftThrows: Left
Summary: A cold weather lefty arm with plenty of current stuff and massive projection, Fernsler could be a name that makes a massive jump as we get closer to the draft. He doesn’t turn 18 until shortly after the draft, making him even more intriguing for metric focused teams. The stuff? He typically sits 89-92 but been up to 94 with a fastball that has plenty of tail and sink thanks to his rather low 3/4 arm slot. He has a changeup that has flashed well with good fade and a sweeping slider in the lower 80s. His foot landing just slightly closed helps add a touch of cross body action, giving even more deception to all of his stuff. There is both leg and arm recoil in the finish that does not look the cleanest, but it is the type of action that could probably be cleaned up with elite coaching. It does, however, leave some question about his ability to stick as a starter, and he is not going to face much in terms of top talent this season, although he still has a good chance to go in the round 3-5 range and would not be surprised to see him signed away from his TCU commitment.
