| Summary: Still very much a hit-over-power profile, Yost has started to tap into some power and really forced his way into the draft conversation. The strength is wiry currently, as he is still quite lean, but the frame has plenty of projection and how much future strength a team thinks he could add will certainly have an impact on his draft value. The hit tool is very good and he does not swing-and-miss much and he does a good job staying within the zone. He did not participate in many showcases last summer, so there track record against top arms isn’t there, so there are certainly some questions about how well that pitch recognition and contact rate will play against elite arms. Defensively he is certainly a shortstop although the glove is nothing special, he has more than enough talent to stick as an average defender. The speed is an easy plus, but his lateral mobility doesn’t match the straight line speed, so there is some thought he may profile best in center long term. | |||||||||||
