| Summary: Davalan is a non-typical prospect in many ways, but the dude just balls. The Canadian native, he moved to the states to finish high school at TNXL Academy before spending his freshman year at Florida Gulf Coast where he absolutely raked. He transferred to Arkansas for his draft eligible sophomore season where he is putting up even bigger numbers in the SEC than he did in the ASun. At the plate he has a very open stance that gets deep into a crouch with a quieted leg kick from his earlier days and has improved his bat speed too. The bat to ball skills are an easy plus tool, and the hit tool overall flirts with it. He has some pop, but his frame simply isn’t one that generates a ton of power. While at FGCU he spent a good amount of time at second, and there is some hope he can get back to the dirt as a pro, but he would be limited to second base if he does. In the outfield, he doesn’t have the range for center or arm for right, so he really is a left field only profile on the grass. This means the pressure will be squarely on the bat for his future value, but there is a ton to like there and he could develop into a solid future big leaguer. | |||||||||||
