| Summary: Hugus pitched out of the bullpen while seeing time as a position player as well for Cincinnati for two seasons before transferring to Miami to become the Friday night starter this year. He has a shorter arm path with a quick arm out of a 3/4 slot that does create some cross body action thanks to setting up on the far 3B side of the rubber. He works with pace and attacks hitters, giving him a really good starter’s profile from an approach perspective. In terms of stuff, he does not have massive upside, but he has a pretty high floor. The fastball sits 90-93 and has been up to 95 while showing good life up in the zone. He has a changeup in the mid-80s that pairs with a 12-6 curve between 75-78. His best offspeed offering is his slider which he manipulates well from 82-88 and is a plus offering on his good days. Overall, the upside may limit how early he gets selected, but this is an arm that is a good bet to spend a long time in the back end of a big league rotation. | |||||||||||
