| Summary: Boles has the frame for a workhorse starter and has a four pitch mix, although two are well ahead of the others. The fastball sits in the low 90s but has been up to 95 and has shown the ability to miss bats with it especially up in the zone. The slider is my favorite of his offerings with a shorter but sharp down breaker with some depth to it at times while sitting in the low to mid 80s and he has good feel for the pitch.. The changeup has some decent fade to it, while there is a curveball he breaks out at times, but he seems to be using it less and less. He gets good leg drive with his long legs and a repeatable delivery releasing the ball between 3/4 and just lower. He has shown an ability to really pitch and vary his delivery to keep hitter’s off balance in terms of timing. The projection is a back end of a rotation arm, but I think it is safe to assume he has a real shot to stick as a starter. | |||||||||||
