| Summary: A JuCo transfer from College of the Canyons by way of Saugus High (gotta shout out my alma mater when I can) Yeaman has been a revelation for UC Irvine this season. With scouts initially heading out to see Anthony Martinez, and rightfully so, it is Yeaman they leave talking about. He has a slightly open front side with his hands set rather low, but he has a small stride and gets the bat moving with some real bat speed. He has above average hit tool potential, especially against the fastball where he not only doesn’t miss, he can absolutely crush the ball. That said, he does struggle against secondary stuff and his pitch recognition does need fine tuning. While he is currently playing short for the Anteaters, his future is likely at third base where his thicker frame and quality power will play well. He has gone from a guy on very few draft lists to a guy unlikely to be back for another year as he will almost certainly be drafted early enough to sign come July. | |||||||||||
