| Summary: While he was a regular in the showcase circuit last summer, Ricken largely got overlooked in terms of national attention as it was all focused on his teammate Gavin Fien. While Fien could very well go in the first round come July, Ricken will likely hear his name called too. His fastball has steadily been adding velo and is now sitting 94-95 and touching 97 when it was more 89-92 18 months ago. He comes from a 3/4 slot but gets plenty of run on the fastball along with some sink. His best secondary for me is a sharp downer slider, but he has a solid curve as well. The change can be a bit firm, but it has flashed the potential to be at least an average pitch. He can get long in his delivery and lose the zone too often, but the profile is that of a starter at the pro level. | |||||||||||
