2025 MLB Draft: Luke LaCourse, RHP, Bay City Western

Player: Luke LaCourse
School: Bay City Western (MI)Position(s): RHP
Height: 6’4″Weight: 220 lbs.Bats: RightThrows: Right
Summary: 3,500 RPMs, that is a number usually reserved for motorized vehicles, but, in Michigan, that is the spin rate of the best breaking ball in the state. LaCourse redefines “spin monster” with an absolutely filthy slider that is an easy plus offering in the low 80s with real two plane break. To go with that he has a fastball up to 94 with good spin of it’s own that helps allow it to really ride and carry. He can manipulate the fastball and give it some cut too in the 89-91 range. He has a solid changeup to round out the mix, although it is nowhere near the other two offerings currently. Polish is lacking here currently, as he is an accomplished basketball player too and that has cut into his development as a pitcher, and the ability to repeat his delivery well needs work. That said, he is clearly a quality athlete and should be able to make big strides once he focuses purely on baseball. The big question is whether or not a team will be willing to draft and sign him for enough money to prevent him from attending Michigan State where, with development, he could rise into a day one type prospect.
