| Summary: Part of an underrated transfer class that found it’s way to Penn State, Weingartner was the everyday shortstop where he was solid defensively. Moving forward, he is probably more of a utility guy who will be serviceable at short, but projects better as a second baseman if not an outfielder based on his fringy arm and glove but plus speed. He struggled offensively on the Cape last summer, and only hit .250 this season, but he has nearly as many walks as he did strikeouts, which he does by having a very good sense of the zone. There is more thump in the bat than his frame would suggest and a team who believes he can stick at short could easily grab him in the top five rounds in July. | |||||||||||
