| Summary: With a strong lower half and deep stance, Gurevitch looks the part of a power hitting first baseman, but he is more hit over power. Don’t get me wrong, he can drive the ball to all fields and the power plays at least average to the pull side and will mash fastballs. Against secondary stuff he struggles and will expand the zone or get out front too often, leading to softer contact. The bat plane leads to more line drive results, which is one of the reasons the hit is ahead of the power, but minor adjustments could turn him into a 20 home run guy without much impact on the contact rates. He has played both corner infield spots and has enough arm for third, but the footwork points more towards a guy that will end up at first, where he is a bit of an outlier in terms of offensive profile at that position. | |||||||||||
