| Summary: There was a point this season where the best numbers in the Florida State rotation did not belong to Jamie Arnold, but Volini instead. He came back down to earth as the season went along, and the pure stuff isn’t jaw dropping, but the total package here is real. His fastball won’t blow you away in terms of velo, regularly working 89-91, but it has plenty of life and plays up to average. His best pitch is his 1-7 hammer of a curveball sitting 75-80 that he uses a lot. It has real plus potential and is easily his best pitch. The slider is solid working in the low 80s and has a changeup that keeps hitters honest in the 83-84 range. He repeats his 3/4 slot delivery well and can command all his pitches, making him a no doubt starter at the next level. While the ceiling is quite low, there is a very good change he gets to the big leagues and spends a good amount of time there at the back end of a rotation. | |||||||||||
