| Summary: Ruiz is a switch hitting shortstop who has real fluidity to his game both at the dish and in the field. I wouldn’t go as far as to say he is a plus defender at short, yet, but the actions and confidence in the glove are and he plays the position with a high baseball IQ. He is an above average runner with a short frame, so there is some second base risk, but he should be able to stick at short. At the plate, he doesn’t swing and miss, like hardly ever. He is quick to the zone with a level plane that allows him to shoot line drives from line to line. Despite being 19 on draft day, there is some projection left in the frame, so the pop could flirt with being fringe average. | |||||||||||
