| Summary: Of the 55 games Carlon has pitched for the Sun Devils, 53 of them have come out of the bullpen and that is likely where he fits long term, although there is some hope he can move into the rotation in 2026. In order to do so he will need to develop a third pitch and really cut down on his walks, something he did a better job of in 2025 than 2024 but it was still high, going from walking six per nine to just over four. He showed plenty of improvement beyond the walk numbers too, cutting the ERA from 7.52 down to 3.33 and nearly doubling his strikeout rate, 7.5/9 to 14.3. While he is currently a two pitch guy, those two pitches are big offerings. The fastball sits in the mid 90s and has been up to 98 and is actually his secondary offering to his slider, which he uses more than the fastball. The slider is a mid to high 80s power gyro shaped breaker that garnishes plenty of plus grades. The delivery on the mound is not a concern in terms of extreme effort, and the body is well suited for a heavy work load, so there are characteristics that could see him slide into the rotation, he just really needs to develop a third offering and continue improving the command. | |||||||||||
