| Summary: Grant works with a lively fastball in the 90–95 range, touching 96, that plays best when he stays on line and commands it to the edges. The pitch shows modest life and has more impact from the windup than the stretch, though it can leak over the middle of the plate. Even so, it sets the tone for a strong three-pitch look that points clearly toward a starter’s profile. The sbreaking ball is a swing-and-miss weapon at times, working 80–85 with spin consistently in the 2,700–3,000 rpm range. It flashes plus potential with late sweep, particularly against righthanded hitters although the shape is somewhat inconsistent morphing between a more downward breaking curve and the sweepy slider. His changeup may be the most advanced secondary, sitting 83–86 with fade and bottom, and he shows confidence landing it in all counts. Older for the class but polished, Grant fills the zone with strikes and has shown the ability to sequence effectively. The combination of fastball life, a high-spin breaker, and a fading changeup give him three potential above-average pitch projections with refinement. He profiles as a strike-throwing starter with the arsenal to hold a rotation spot and the ingredients to develop into more if the consistency sharpens although he does lack the physical projection of many in the class. | |||||||||||
