| Summary: Sanchez has held his own against several of the more heralded names in his international class since signing for a modest bonus. He hits left-handed from an open setup with a simple, calm load and a flat path through the zone. The path lets him wait on pitches, work deep counts, and take his walks rather than chase. Changes to his swing, a better spot to meet the ball, and more strength have produced more power to the gaps and fewer strikeouts. Third base is his primary home, where he’s an above-average defender with a strong arm, and the arm stands out most on hard plays going to his right. He can fill in at shortstop and has moved to center field with ease, reading balls well off the bat. He runs well enough to create value on the bases. Spin gives him trouble, curveballs in particular, and he’s produced more from the right side of the mound than the left. The glove is the strongest part of the game, and his ability to move around the diamond gives him real flexibility. The recent offensive gains give him a chance at more regular time than a typical bench role. A utility spot built around defense remains the most likely outcome. | |||||||||||
