Summary:
Wall hits from the left side, and the bat has been the steady thread in his profile through several years of travel-ball and showcase play. The stroke is quick and compact, and he reads pitches well, picking up spin easily and meeting velocity in every part of the zone. The hit tool grades plus with a chance to go higher, and some evaluators place him near the top of his state’s hitters. He’s selective, puts together long at-bats, draws plenty of walks, and seldom swings and misses, so he’s on base constantly.

Power is modest. The raw strength sits below average, but the path of his swing and the way he elevates the ball to the pull side with backspin let it show up in games. Most of the damage comes as doubles, down the lines and into the gaps, and he hits to every part of the field. His frame doesn’t yet support run-producing power from the heart of an order, and added strength could bring more impact.

Catcher is the target, and the bat runs well ahead of the defense. He moves well for the position, shows receiving and framing ability in his better looks, and has the athleticism to fill in at the middle infield. The arm is light for a catcher and needs to get stronger, and the glove work has to get cleaner before the position is secure. If catching doesn’t hold, an outfield corner or first base is a realistic landing spot. He doesn’t add much on the bases.

The bat alone can justify a premium selection, but whoever takes him high will be betting that the defense comes around.
