Summary:
Ritchie is a left-handed hitter whose raw power grades plus and carries the profile. Bat speed and strength combine to produce force that reaches every part of the park. The swing is built to lift the ball and drive it, usually to the pull side, and he gets the ball airborne often. For a big hitter he’s athletic in the box, with a barrel that adjusts well enough to cover the entire strike zone, and the bat speed from the left side continues to improve.

The contact is the real risk. His hit tool grades fringe, and the approach turns reckless at times. He swings through strikes and reaches for pitches that fade out of the zone. Metal bats flatter him more than wood ones, which have been harder on him, and the move to pro ball puts that contact under the most scrutiny. How much the power plays depends on whether he makes enough contact.

In the field, he runs better than a player his size usually does, with speed that shows once he’s moving. Center field has shown off his instincts and his ability to chase down balls in the alleys, though the routes he takes aren’t always direct. The likely home is a corner outfield spot, and right field fits best, with room to become a high-level defender there. He has an average arm and has spent a little time at third base.

The power gives him a high ceiling and the swing-and-miss sets the floor. If he keeps enough contact against pro pitching, the bat can carry a corner outfield spot.
