Summary: Arquette transferred from Washington to Oregon State this summer where he is expected to play short after playing 50 of his 56 games in the field at second base for UW. He only played 15 games his freshman year, but launched five home runs at the cost of 30% strikeout rate. He made clear adjustments at the plate, getting quicker to the plate with a more direct bat path and cut that rate down to 17%. He hit a dozen home runs last year, but that came with 14 doubles and really showed himself to be a well rounded hitter. This summer, he spent time on the Cape where he showed the bat plays even with wood and put to bed a lot of the questions about his ability to play short. I absolutely think he will be able to hold down short long term, while the power he displays this coming season will determine just how high he goes come July.
