| Summary: In the new world of college baseball, it is rare for a player to star at a non-power conference school that is not a traditional baseball school, but that is where we are with Gray. He returns to Fresno State for a third season that saw him win the Mountain West Freshman of the Year award in 2023 and returned as one of the top players in the conference in 2024. The power numbers aren’t massive but the body is very strong and there should be plenty of power in the future to the pull side, while there are still some questions if he can tap into that power throughout the whole field. Despite the big frame the bat to ball skills are elite and can handle the whole plate, although he does chase too often. There are some who fear there is some 1B risk in the defensive profile, but I think he sticks at third and can be at least an average defender there. If he is moved off the position, I expect the first move to be to right field rather than first as he has a plus arm and enough athleticism to cover the ground needed to be in the outfield. | |||||||||||
