| Summary: Volchko is everything you want from a starting pitching prospect. He has the frame to handle the work load, has a big fastball, and a real four pitch mix, although the change is a good way behind the fastball and slider. The baseball works up to 98 but has touched triple digits with plenty of sink and some tail. The slider is mostly horizontal and can vary between a full slider look and more cutter action, but either way it is a plus offering and could easily be considered two distinct pitches. The change has good arm speed with some run and he has shown a slurvy breaker as well. If he can get those third and fourth pitches to be more consistent and reel in the command, he has front of rotation upside. | |||||||||||
