| Summary: Huntington Beach is no stranger to quality catching prospects, and Grindlinger is just the latest in that long line. He is a quality defensive catcher with loose hips, good footwork, and a lightning quick release that really allows him to shut down the running game. He is a rare catching prospect who is more polished defensively than offensively, but there is still plenty to like in the bat. It is a short swing that allows him to get the bat to the ball with frequency and isn’t afraid to shoot the ball the other way. There is plenty of power in the frame and bat, although it is more raw than game power currently. Minor adjustments could easily turn him into a 20 HR a year type catcher with a hit tool that is fringe average making it a really intriguing profile a lot of teams will really like. | |||||||||||
