| Summary: There are few at bats more uncomfortable for lefties than Crowell. With a closed set, wild glove arm, herky jerky actions with real arm whip, the deception here is real and effective. With all the moving parts though, there is also plenty of command concerns and he can get out of sync far too easily leading to him missing the zone. His fastball has been up to 94 but sits more 90-92 and has real tail and good sinking action. That said, there is plenty of reason to believe there is more to come there. He has a sweeping slider and a change that features effective late tumble. Which is his better secondary pitch really is dependent upon the day, which also points to his inconsistencies from outing to outing. There is a lot of reliever risk here, but the pitch mix is good enough to be a starter and should start his pro career in a rotation. If he does make it to campus, he will be a draft eligible sophomore in 2027. | |||||||||||
