| Summary: Houston has long been considered one of, if not the top defensive shortstop in college baseball, but there were some real limitations when it came to the bat. Coming into 2025 there was a buzz in the scouting community about the amount of physicality added to the frame, leaving questions as to whether or not it would impact his defense and an excitement about the potential addition in power. The defense did not take a step back at all, he is still a truly plus defensive SS, and the power has arrived. Is it big home run power, no, but it is no longer bottom of the scale power and it improving even to below average raises his stock massively. The hit tool and approach at the plate is only being cemented as excellent, and he now projects as a guy with the upside to be a Gold Glove shortstop who can be a leadoff guy and hit low double-digit home runs. It would shock nobody if his name is called in the top ten picks of the draft. | |||||||||||
