2025 MLB Draft: Pico Kohn, LHP, Mississippi State

Summary: A highly regarded prep prospect in the 2021 draft, Kohn has a strong commitment to Mississippi State and went undrafted as a result. After a solid freshman season out of the bullpen in 2022, he missed the 2023 season due to Tommy John Surgery and then threw fewer than 30 innings in 2024. He had a quality 2025 with a K/9 nearing 13 and an improved BB/9 at 3.3. He comes from a lower 3/4 slot with a fastball in the low 90s that can touch 95, a sweeping slider in the low 80s and a fading low 80s changeup as well. The change is used much more infrequently than the other two, but it is a solid enough offering to help keep hitters honest. He seems to have cleaned up some of his mechanics and it is a much more repeatable delivery which has led to the improved command. The upside isn’t huge here, but there is a real chance he develops into a nice piece at the back end of a rotation.
