| Summary: Younger for the class, Carbaugh will turn 18 right around the time of the draft. He has a long frame that is starting to fill out well and the stuff is really making big strides this summer too. He moves well down the mound with a loose whippiness to the arm out of a very low 3/4 slot. That slot allows the fastball to run a ton to the arm side sitting in the low 90s up to 95 with easy projection to come too. He manipulates the shape of his low 80s slider depending on the count, going more sweepy early in counts, then adding depth to get strikeouts when he gets two strikes on hitters. The changeup is the better of the two secondary pitches, also in the low 80s, it has plenty of sink to go with the same big arm side run the fastball has that allows it to be effective against both left and right handed hitters. | |||||||||||
