| Summary: Wells is one of the top projection lefties in the class with a long frame, easy operation, and a fastball already reaching the low–mid 90s. The fastball shows life and shape manipulation—he’ll run it or create carry—and the delivery suggests more velocity gains as he fills out. The slider shows two-plane potential, flashing sharp tilt with both short and sweepy versions. The arm action is loose for his size, and the delivery is still syncing up, but he throws enough strikes for the projection to matter. The changeup is behind the other pitches but flashes the fade needed to become a viable third offering. As he continues to grow into his body, Wells has a chance to develop three average-or-better pitches with starter command. Among ’27 southpaws, few offer this combination of present stuff, athleticism, and velocity ceiling. | |||||||||||
