| Summary: Typically a true two way prospect you tend to default to the bat as that is where a prospect is likely to have the biggest impact, but I have a hard time not seeing Schoolcraft as a pitcher. At the plate, he has plus raw power but plenty of swing and miss in the bat. He would be limited to first base defensively, but he is a very good defender at the position. On the bump, he uses every inch of his long frame to get down the hill and his stuff gets on hitters in a hurry. The arm slot being in a rather low 3/4 spot makes is unnerving for any lefty who steps into the box against him. The fastball sits 94-96 and has touched 97 with some serious arm side run and plenty of sink. He has a really good change where he really kills the spin and it can fall off the table. The breaking ball is still inconsistent, sometimes showing good depth while it lacks the horizontal movement at other times. A recent grown spurt has led to some mechanical and command issues, but nothing that can’t be smoothed out. Overall, this is a power left-handed arm that has the upside of pitching near the front of a big league rotation. | |||||||||||
