| Summary: Stevenson may well be the best defensive catcher in the 2025 class with excellent hands when receiving, quality lateral mobility, and a plus arm, there is no doubt he can stick behind the plate. At the plate, he has plenty of raw power although it is still more raw than game power at the moment despite hitting 14 home runs a season ago. His home run power is primarily on the pull side, although there is plenty of bat speed to be able to turn on just about any pitch. He can drive the ball the other way, but more gap power presently. Recognizing spin is currently an issue as he can swing and miss a bit much on breaking stuff, but the minimal load and stride should allow him to handle those just fine as he improves his pitch recognition. Of the trio of college catchers with current first round grades, Stevenson may be the most well rounded of the group and is the only one without questions about his ability to stick there long term. | |||||||||||
