Summary: A true five-tool player, Dumesnil was a nightmare for WAC pitchers a season ago and likely will be yet again this season. The bat speed is elite and it leads to easy plus power that he is able to tap into now. Not only is he one that will put up impressive home run numbers, he has a knack for finding gaps and his plus speed makes him a doubles machine. He regularly destroys fastballs, although he can really struggle against quality spin, hitting the ball weakly on the ground too often. He has a wide base and has more of a weight shift than big stride, although there is a mild toe tap, and he is always ready to fire on the ball, a bit too much at times as his aggressiveness could be reeled in some. On the bases, that speed and athleticism really shines, and no more than on the Cape this summer where he stole 26 bags on 27 attempts. He would probably only be an average defender in center as the range just isn’t quite what you want from a traditional center fielder, but above average if he does shift to right.
