| Summary: While Chase Burns won the ACC Pitcher of the Year a season ago, you could make an argument Arnold was just as deserving of that award. After a rough freshman season, he bounced back in a big way striking out 13.5 per nine and more than six Ks per free pass allowed. He comes out of a very low 3/4 slot that is an uncomfortable AB for anyone, and nearly impossible for a lefty batter. The fastball have been up to 97 with an incredible amount of run, that will regularly run the full width of the plate, if not more. The slider is plus thanks to it having a combination of depth in the sweep and plenty of sharpness at the same time. His change is a quality third offering giving him an easy starter’s arsenal. He works with pace and really commands the game on the hill looking every bit the part of an ace. There is plenty of looseness in the arm and flexibility in the frame that should allow him to withstand the rigors of a starting pitcher workload despite the smaller frame.
