| Summary: In terms of pure tools, James is average across the board, but he certainly gets the most out of them all. He is aggressive at the plate and there is some swing and miss in the bat, but he also has a knack of getting the barrel to the ball pretty often. He has a long track record of performing with the USA U15 and U18 squads where he was the leadoff guy as an underclassman a year ago. The swing is compact allowing his hands to clear well and able to get around on inside velo as well as anyone while keeping his balance on any offering. When he does make contact, there is some solid power in the bat now with plenty more in the projection. Defensively he has good instincts at short, but the long term position may end up being on the other side at second base. | |||||||||||
