| Summary: The poster child for today’s transfer portal world that is college baseball, Fischer started his career at Duke before moving to Ole Miss a season ago, and is now with his third school in as many years at Tennessee. Let’s start with the concerns, the defensive profile is not wonderful. While he has played a solid third base in college thus far, he is unlikely to be able to stay there at the next level. He can be a bit stiff, lacks first step quickness, and just doesn’t have the agility you are looking for at the hot corner. The speed leads to range concerns in the outfield, so there is a real risk he is a 1B only. He also chases too often, expands the zone, and can struggle against offspeed. However, once he has the ball in the field, he has more than enough arm for the left side and it could be a weapon if he is able to play right. When he does make contact at the plate, his violent swing and natural loft leads to a ton of pull side power. He also absolutely mashes fastballs and can handle the best velo college baseball has to offer. | |||||||||||
