| Summary: Getting Carmichael out proved to be an uphill battle for pitchers in 2024, as he hit .366 with 31 extra-base hits, although only seven of those left the yard. He has a high hand load with a direct bat path allowing him to spray line drives around the field regularly, but that is also part of the reason he is a doubles hitter rather than home run power. The strength is there, the loft in the swing isn’t that of a big time power hitter, but you will certainly take a doubles machine as a catcher. His hands can be busy as a receiver, but they are always in the right spot in the end and he is a high quality defensive backstop. He doesn’t have a cannon of an arm, it may actually be a bit below-average, but he has good feet and athleticism and he is certainly a long term catcher for me. | |||||||||||
