| Summary: A high pitchability lefty, McKenzie has a high floor but has big time upside too. The fastball is the big question, as it typically sits in the low-90s although it has been up to 95. That said, as he goes deeper into outings it will dip into the upper-80s at times. His best pitch is his curveball that features plenty of depth and big spin rates. I expect it to evolve into more of a plus sweeper/slider as he adds velo to his arsenal and will become a genuine wipeout pitch. He has a changeup with some run, but it needs a lot of polish. He can really spot all three pitches well and can work backwards at times. If he can show he can hold the velo deep into starts and maybe even pop an occasional 96 or 97, he will rocket up draft boards. If he makes it to LSU, he will see plenty of innings and could develop into a first half of the first round type arm. | |||||||||||
